Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Toastmasters speak of their international success 

Central Queensland University Toastmasters Club recently kick started its 2003 activities by holding a demonstration meeting.

PhotoID:591CQU Toastmaster Peter Baxter said the meeting offered insight about what the Club offered and the benefits provided to members.

“Toastmasters is a worldwide organisation that is devoted to improving the speaking, listening and thinking skills of its members,” he said.

“The skills acquired from being a member can be applied to everyday business life, including job interviews and oral presentations.” Club members meet on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays each month from 1pm to 2pm at the CQU Mackay campus. For more details call Peter Baxter on 4940 7418.
