Central Queesland University is recognising three top academic performers.
The CQU chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society, which presents scholarships to outstanding students, awarded $800 each to Penelope-Jane Fry, Leanne Martin and Jodie Grange based on their academic achievement, active involvement in community service and extensive work experience.
Penelope-Jane is a Bachelor of Environmental Science student who lives on the Gold Coast; Leanne resides at Bundaberg and is pursuing the Bachelor of Education (Primary) program; and Jodie is studying the double-degree, Bachelor of Human Movement Science/Bachelor of Education and is a student from Dululu, west of Rockhampton.
Manager of CQU’s Careers Service Robyn Kennedy said the students were acknowledged not only for their academic achievements, but also their community involvement. She said their community service achievements would be highly regarded by employers.
“Employers really look for that “extra mile” component in a student’s resume.
Golden Key has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships since its inception, and in Australia alone, over $200,000 has been awarded since 1993.
The top 15% of Australia’s undergraduate students honoured for their academic excellence are invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society. Members are eligible to apply for international scholarships.
Golden Key has links with about 350 universities around the world with more than 1500 CQU students invited to become members since CQU joined the society last year.
