Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

United States Consul General, Judith Fergin 

JUDITH R. FERGIN

CONSUL GENERAL, U.S. CONSULATE GENERAL SYDNEY

Judith Fergin took up her posting as U.S. Consul General in Sydney in July 2007.  She is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor.  Mrs. Fergin served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore from 2004 to 2007.  She participated in a diplomatic exchange program at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute in Canberra from 2002 to 2003 and served as Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra from 2003 to 2004.

Mrs. Fergin has also served in Jakarta, Moscow, Monrovia, Pretoria, Munich, and Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor's degree from Smith College and master's degrees from the University of Virginia (international relations) and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces of the National Defence University (national resource management).

Mrs. Fergin is married to Gregory Fergin, a retired senior Foreign Service officer.  His last assignment was as Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra from 2001-2004.  The Fergins have two children.
