CQUniversity PhD graduate Tanya Nitins has James Bond to thank for her award.

She used the Bond film series as a case study to demonstrate the impact cultural events have played on the practice of product placement.

"Whilst traditionally examined from an economic and/or historical perspective, my findings highlighted the impact specific cultural events (the Cold War, nuclear tensions, the Space Race, etc) had on the number and types of products placed in the films," Tanya said.

Tanya recently celebrated her graduation at CQUniversity's ceremony in Brisbane on Monday (May 7).

She is currently employed at Queensland University of Technology's  Kelvin Grove campus, in the Creative Industries Precinct.

"I have a number of roles including research assistant, tutor and curriculum developer. My main role is in redeveloping the QUT Media and Communications course for off-shore delivery in Hong Kong. As part of this role, I also had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Hong Kong and experience another culture.

"This year has already been a time of great excitement and opportunity with developments at work, articles being published, another trip to Hong Kong in the planning and hopefully the purchase of my first house!

"This graduation ceremony was a wonderful way to celebrate with my friends and family the culmination of a lot of hard work."
