Capricornia Residential College renovations underway

CQU’s Division of Facilities Management has conducted compliance upgrades to Capricornia College in Rockhampton over the last few months as part of a $6.4 million project encompassing Rockhampton, Gladstone and Mackay campuses.
The compliance upgrade project at the College, which is still underway, will ensure CQU meets its legislative requirements to comply with building codes and duty of care.
Facilities Management has worked alongside Andrews & Girle Architects, Project Services, and Foster Projects on this project.
The builders and Facilities Management staff have been careful to fit the refurbishments into the College’s low season to avoid major disruption to students.
Work in progress at the College includes the replacement of doors to all student rooms and fire doors in hallways and the upgrading of exit and safety railings. Fire safety has been fine-tuned with accessibility upgrades to all College buildings and upgrades to alarms and hoses.
Manager of Capricornia College Robyn James is confident that all work will be completed in time for the opening of the College on Saturday, February 18.
