Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Gary S. H. Chua BIO 

Gary S. H. Chua, BEcon UAdel, ACA, FTIA is the Group Chief Executive Officer of the learn.ed solutions Group - an Internet online learning business, based in Hong Kong.  Prior to taking up this role, Gary worked as a Chartered Accountant, Taxation Officer and Auditor.  His extensive consulting and advisory experience encompasses the areas of new technology start ups, project and financial management, mergers and acquisitions, change management, litigation support, strategic and corporate planning, operations management and the provision of corporate taxation planning and advice.

Gary has been involved in the Information Technology Industry sector since 1994 regarding aspects of intellectual property, commercialisation and realisation and has assumed managerial and senior executive positions in various businesses.  He has also fulfilled roles as a consultant to the Managing Director of a major financial institution and was involved in the negotiation and establishment of a manufacturing joint venture in the People's Republic of China.

Specific assignments undertaken by Gary include business and intellectual property valuations, evaluation of business and investment opportunities, corporate and financial structuring assignments, valuation of businesses, assessments of the financial viability of submissions by companies to financial institutions, special examinations and Court litigation assignments, provision of specialist taxation advice, business migration services and operational management of retail, service facilities and project design and management.

Gary's tri-linguistic skills have enabled him to develop a network of leading manufacturers, professionals and investors in the Asia Pacific area and he has led negotiations in various countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the United Kingdom.  He has presented numerous seminars on business opportunities that exist in Australia and presented papers on foreign exchange and business valuations to the Australian Society of Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Australian Taxation Office.
