School children confronted by issues about personal safety

School children in Gladstone, Rockhampton and Yeppoon will be confronted by a production of ‘A Property of the Clan’, based on a real-life rape-murder tragedy.
The powerful and sensitive play explores issues relating to personal safety, male attitudes to females and individual responsibility. It is the first production in a series of ‘Con Carnavale’ events, featuring students from Central Queensland University’s Faculty of Education & Creative Arts and Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
‘A Property of the Clan’, featuring Bachelor of Performing Arts third-year drama students, is presented by the CQU Theatre-in-Education company.
The production will be staged at CQU Rockhampton (Helene Jones Room, Building 5) at 12.30pm on Monday, May 23.
Rockhampton residents are encouraged to attend the evening performance on Wednesday May 25 in the Helene Jones Room, building 5, at 8-30pm (tickets are $5.50, available at the door).
In Gladstone, two shows will be staged for a variety of school groups at Toolooa High School on Tuesday, May 24. Yeppoon’s school performances will be staged at Yeppoon High School on Thursday, May 26.
The performances have been adapted for middle school audiences.
