Spare computers a boon for disability service users

CQUniversity often assists community organisations whenever it has computers spare as part of its annual replacement cycle.

The latest group to benefit was the Home Support Association Inc, which operates in Rockhampton and Yeppoon. Some of the service users were so keen to use the computers that they helped to pick them up from the campus.

Home Support is also investigating access to computer labs on campus, so it can extend its Community Training Network sessions for not-for-profit organisations.

The Home Support Association values social inclusion and supports the participation of people with a disability in everyday life. Home Support Association Inc (HSA) has operated in the Rockhampton Community since 1993. This service is funded by Disability Services to provide quality one-on-one support for people with a disability between the ages of 16 and 60 years who live in their own home.
