Sydney staff in karaoke challenge
Published on 10 July, 2007
The challenge went out to undergraduate and postgraduate staff on the Sydney Campus to join together in a night of fun and frivolity for the 'Challenge Cup'.
The undergraduate staff, though fewer in numbers to the postgraduate staff, focussed on some quality performances.
The Posties
The Undies
The highlight of the night was the Head of Academic Programs, Paul Krust, who changed the words to the Rolling Stones song 'Satisfaction' to a clever play on words relating to the moderation of assignments.
Other notable highlights included Dr David Fox (Program Facilitator - UG) singing 'Rawhide', Susana Cabillon (PG - Faculty Administrator) singing 'Fernando' and Cynthia Crampton (UG Library) singing a 'Culture Club' classic. The Posties sang many group numbers and finished off with 'I will survive'.
Solos and duets were sung by staff from the Library and academics.
The Posties tried to score extra points by joining in with back-up vocals when the Manager Client Services, Linda Moalem-Wilhelmi, sung the old Mary Wells classic 'My Guy'.
However the Undergraduate staff prevailed with a group effort of the Village People's 'YMCA; before finishing off with Queen's 'We are the Champions' when declared the winners.
Despite threats of bribery, the judges, Liz Bailey and Sonia Saddiqui from Student Association, remained independent throughout the judging.
The Undies were victorious on the night - well done! Posties await the next challenge...
