CQU teams head to Uni Games

University rivalry will take to the sporting fields early next month as Central Queensland University teams travel to Brisbane to contest the 2003 DrinkSmart Northern University Games from July 6-10.

Hosted by The University of Queensland and Griffith University, the Games are set to attract 2500 student competitors from 14 campuses throughout Queensland, Northern Territory and northern New South Wales and are being held in Brisbane for the first time since 1998.

CQU is sending a squad of 31 students to the games, to compete in golf, men\'s beach volleyball, men\'s squash, women\'s touch football and women\'s volleyball.

Another incentive for CQU teams is that the games also serve as a qualifying event for the Australian University Games, which this year will be held in Newcastle from September 28 - October 3.
