There are no auditions, but places are limited, so make sure you register on the day.

The Conservatorium Academy - a new initiative by CQUniversity to be officially launched in February - has been specifically designed to allow school age students to experience the joy of music theatre.

Dean of CQUniversity's School of Creative and Performing Arts Professor Matthew Marshall said the Conservatorium was well placed to nurture these ‘young stars'.

"Operating out of our fully equipped studios and teaching spaces at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at the Mackay Campus of CQUniversity, students will have access to professional facilities and outstanding teachers and tutors.

"In addition, they will also interact with internationally acclaimed visiting industry professionals who work with the Bachelor of Theatre students at CQUniversity Mackay."

Internationally acclaimed music theatre professionals who have worked with students at CQCM Mackay previously have included Dale Pengelly (Brisbane), Thern Reynolds (Melbourne), John Wregg (Sydney), Chris Horsey (Sydney) and Drew Anthony (Sydney).

In 2011, we will have the opportunity to learn from Peter Cousens (Sydney) and Chloe Dallimore (Sydney).

Bachelor of Theatre staff at CQUniversity are also internationally recognised artists and have tutored graduates who are now working professionally in music theatre in Las Vegas, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, South-East Asia, United Kingdom and Europe.
