'Guys and Dolls' gather at Great Western Hotel

Rockhampton's Great Western Hotel is the backdrop for a September production of the popular 'Guys and Dolls' musical.

The production will feature Music Performance, Dance in Music Theatre and Production students enrolled in Central Queensland University's Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) degree program.

PhotoID:1522 The production has been especially designed by BPA industry mentors Wayne Scott Kermond (of 'Singin' in the Rain' fame) and Katie Kermond (of 'Chicago-the Musical' fame) in collaboration with lecturers Dr Emma Killion and Jane Bacon.

Based on Damon Runyon's short story 'The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown', 'Guys and Dolls' revolves around Nathan Detroit, the organiser of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York.

Detroit bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he cannot make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. As fate would have it the next girl he happens to see is Miss Sarah Brown, an innocent Salvation Army reformer. The stage is set for a hilarious evening of complications.

'Guys and Dolls' is a production of CQU's Faculty of Education and Creative Arts and the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

The production is being staged at Lee Kernaghan's Great Western Hotel Arena on a Thursday and Friday (September 16-17) from 7.30pm.

PhotoID:1523 Major roles in the show are being played by BPA students Annette Djokic, Brett Fairbairn, Jessica Havens, Phillip McIntosh, Nathan O'Connor, Glen Mallory and Hamish Henderson.

A two-course pre-show dinner will be available at the Hotel at a cost of $25 per person.

Tickets are available at a cost of Adults $15; Students/Pensioners $10 and children $8 by contacting the staff at Lee Kernaghan's Great Western Hotel.
