Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

VC departs with nod to preparatory programs 

Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard farewelled staff at CQUniversity Rockhampton Campus this afternoon (Thursday July 30) and ended his remarks with a nod to our preparatory programs.

He commented that he had attended 92 graduation ceremonies, missing only 3 or 4 over a 5-year period.

Professor Rickard remarked that he had also attended many completion ceremonies for students enrolled in preparatory programs, such as STEPS.

He said it was these programs which really exemplified what CQUniversity was all about - providing access to higher education for people from all walks of life.
