Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Dance and music events in Rockhampton 

Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) is supporting a feast of music and dance in Rockhampton during May.

CQCM is supplying a guest vocalist and guest pianist for CQ Vocale's classical concert at Rockhampton Grammar School, from 3pm on Sunday, May 12. The Conservatorium's performing arts students are involved in a series of free public events at CQU Rockhampton on Wednesday, May 15. The second-years will present a vocal/instrumental showcase at the campus amphitheatre from 1pm. There will also be a first-year dance symposium from 6.30pm at the Helene Jones Room, followed by a second-year 50 Years of Memories Show at the same venue.

To celebrate National Dance Week, the BPA students will also present major public dance performances at Rockhampton High Performing Arts Complex, from 7.30pm on the evenings of Thursday, May 16, (Dance Through the Movies) and Friday, May 17 (Dance to the Beat, with guest percussionist Grant Collins). Entry for these dance events is only $3 on Thursday evening and $5 on Friday evening. Rockhampton Youth Orchestra, conducted by CQCM's Dimitri Kopanakis, will present a concert at Central Queensland University's Rockhampton Campus on Friday evening (May 31).
