Students 'in tent' to experience technology challenge

Many of the 25 learning management students involved in this year's Holden Maryborough Technology Challenge are so keen they will camp out with competitors during the weekend event (September 13-14).
Lecturer Rose-Marie Thrupp said the Bundaberg-based Technology Curriculum and Pedagogy students will attend the Challenge to see how primary and secondary school students can learn in an exciting environment.
"It's a great showcase of the way technology teaching should happen," Rose-Marie said.
She said the school students design and build their entries, evaluate them and bring them to the event to race "so it sits really nicely for my university students because they can see students from the primary level through to high school in action".
The university students will help conduct competition categories including human-powered vehicles, CO2 powered dragsters, smilie pushcarts, solar boats and cars, robotics and the Queensland Young Inventors' Innovation Award.
