Core admin system now better for students and staff

CQU's core self-service student administration system is now better for students and staff.

This has been a significant undertaking with a dedicated project team implementing the upgraded system - dubbed CQUcentral - over the past 18 months.

This is the first major upgrade since the initial implementation of the Peoplesoft Higher Education System and E.rolment System in 2001.

CQU is keenly focused on ensuring that its technology infrastructure enables students and staff to efficiently and effectively conduct their business.

From April 30, CQUcentral will have fully replaced the E.rolment system which was towards the end of its vendor-supported lifespan and which required upgrading in order for CQU to maintain compliance with legislative requirements.

Students will now have access to their personal Student Centre, which will provide greater ability to self-manage their enrolments, to make payments online,  to check exam advices and view their personal timetable.

A comprehensive CQUcentral Student User Guide will be available and students will have ongoing support from the Student Contact Centre:

Within Australia:  Phone: 1300 550 900

From Overseas:  Phone:  +61 07 49 232 121

Fax: (07) 4923 2100

Email: prerolment@cqu.edu.au

Staff members now have a better web interface, improved efficiency through a shift from hardcopy to online student notifications, particularly in the area of admissions and enrolment management, and greater use of online forms.

The system will deliver a range of enhancements such as improved: examinations processing; calculation of Grade Point Averages; evaluation of students' graduation eligibility ; assignment tracking; and ability for CQU to proactively manage students' academic progress.

Staff support will be provided by the existing ITD Service Centre via helpdesk@cqu.edu.au or extension 9233.

The implementation phase has included training of and extensive pre-testing by a range of staff members from key  areas of the University.
