Let's Have Lunch

A series of small lunch dates between the Vice-Chancellor and CQU staff members has been announced through 4 February.

“During the next few weeks, while life is comparatively peaceful for us all, I would like to take the opportunity to meet a cross-section of available staff,” explained Professor Glenice Hancock.

Eight people at a time will meet over sandwiches to discuss university-wide issues and topics important to staff members.

“I would particularly like to sit down with staff members who I don't meet with regularly,” said the Vice Chancellor. The lunch invitation extends to staff members below the level of Associate Dean/Head of School (Academic) and of Deputy Director, Division (General).

Upcoming lunch dates include: Thursday 9 January.

Monday 13 January.

Wednesday 15 January.

Friday 17 January.

Monday 20 January.

Wednesday 22 January.

Friday 24 January.

Tuesday 28 January.

Thursday 30 January.

Friday 31 January.

Monday 3 February.

Tuesday 4 February.

Staff would have to be willing to have lunch with a lonely old Vice-Chancellor and be prepared to step inside the Chancellery Building, joked Professor Hancock.

You may wish to consider the following items before your lunch:.

-- If you could achieve only one thing for the University this year, what would it be?.

-- If you could change just one thing in the University this year, what would it be?.

-- If you could ask the Vice-Chancellor just one question, what would it be?.

On the 6 and 7 February, CQU's senior managers will be meeting with the VC to discuss the future directions for the University for 2003 and beyond. Your participation in these lunch-time discussions is an opportunity for you to provide input and advice which may be used to inform senior managers in their planning.

During the year, Professor Hancock will try to host some luncheons for staff at Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone and Mackay. However, if one of these campuses is your base, but you will be in Rockhampton in the next few weeks, please don't hesitate to register for one of the lunch dates, above.

“I am looking forward to meeting with you, so please come," said the Vice Chancellor.

Please contact Jenny Roberts (ext. 6903 or e-mail j.roberts@cqu.edu.au) to register your interest and your preferred date.
