Online survey to highlight needs of WIST students
Published on 07 August, 2006
Women into Science and Technology (WIST) Coordinator Robyn Donovan is currently conducting an online survey with enrolled WIST students to examine their needs regarding support and assistance in their studies.
Focus groups with WIST students and interviews with stakeholders have been conducted to identify the themes to be explored in the survey.
Robyn said the topics explored in the focus groups and interviews ranged from the need to have time management skills, the need for good course materials and approachable lecturers, and the need for family support.
Robyn is utilising the services of CQU's Population Research Laboratory to conduct an online survey and already within a week has had an encouraging response to the survey.
Population Research Laboratory Office Manager Christine Hanley said: "The survey will allow Robyn to formulate real strategies to support her students and utilising the online delivery mode will assist her in conserving resources and time in doing so".
Robyn would like to encourage any WIST students who have not participated in the online survey to have their say as each and every opinion is valuable.
Robyn reinterated that "it is important for us to receive as much feedback from our students as possible, in order to discover how we can continue to deliver services and support in a way which best suits their current needs".
