CQUni graduates gets jobs more easily

CQUniversity graduates have again proven their employability by being ahead of national percentages for job success, despite a national slump in graduate employment.
The latest figures from Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) show 81.3% of CQUniversity graduates are in full-time jobs, compared with a national success rate of 76.2%.
The GCA breakdown is based on Australian citizen bachelor degree graduates, available for work, gaining full-time employment within 4 months of completing their degree, where 'Australian citizen' refers to permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand.
Meanwhile, some CQUniversity study areas have an employment success rate of more than 90%.
These study areas include Building (91.7%), Business Studies (90.5%) and Other Engineering (92.5%).
Despite positive CQUniversity figures, preliminary results of the Australian Graduate Survey (AGS) reflect a fall in employment prospects for new bachelor degree graduates nationally.
This year’s national statistics dropped about 6 per cent from last year, making it the lowest employment rate since 1994.
GCA Research Manager Mr Bruce Guthrie explained that these figures reflected the state of the broader economic environment at the time of the survey and had to be viewed in perspective.
“What we’re seeing is the lingering effect from the global financial crisis which affected the level of graduate recruiter activity in the labour market,” Mr Guthrie said.
“It is also important to remember that, in the long term, unemployment rates for graduates are much lower than those in the general labour force.
