Audiences could be 'shell-shocked' by Rockhampton drama

A moving drama entitled ‘Left Behind’ will be presented at Rockhampton’s Walter Reid Performance Space next Friday and Saturday nights (October 1-2).

The drama will be presented by third-year students from Central Queensland University’s Bachelor of Performing Arts degree program.

Director Peta Downes, from the Bell Shakespere Company, will work alongside the students in the week leading up to the performances.

BPA drama lecturer Howard Cassidy said this moving drama would examine war from the perspective of those left behind and those coming back.

It would include texts from throughout history, ranging from ancient Greece through to contemporary pieces written in response to 9/11 and the Balkan wars.

Mr Cassidy said students would incorporate movement, song, innovative projection techniques and an evocative setting.

“There are some scenes which really leave you breathless,” he said.
