Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU represented on 'Birth Issues' panel 

Dr Sandra Walker, from the School of Nursing and Health Studies, has been invited to join the editorial panel for the peer-reviewed quarterly journal, 'Birth Issues'.

Birth Issues aims to reflect the interests of: midwives, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, physiotherapists, and other health professionals working in maternal and child health.

Dr Walker has undertaken research in midwifery and neonatal nursing - including a PhD. She has published a number of papers on midwifery and neonatal issues and has two papers currently out for review. Dr Walker recently had a publication on team midwifery models of care published in the 'Australian Journal of Midwifery'.

Meanwhile, School of Nursing and Health Studies lecturer Trudy Dwyer has been elected as a member of the National Australian College of Critical Care Nurses Advanced Life Committee.
