Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

University staff and students play Santa for needy families  

CQUniversity staff and students dug deep in recent weeks to give some Rockhampton families a better Christmas.

Hundreds of dollars worth of food and gifts were gathered to contribute to the Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal.

CQUniversity's Golden Key* student organisation representative Louise Hayes said she hoped the contribution would make a few families happier at this time of the year.

Salvation Army representative Jeff Packer collected the goodies that were wrapped in Santa sacks and packed in washing baskets.

Mr Packer said there were many families in need at this time of the year and he thanked the University for its help with the appeal.

The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal is an annual community service project.
