Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mummery accepted as Fellow of Australian Sports Medicine Federation 

CQU Professor Kerry Mummery has been accepted as a Fellow of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation (FASMF).

He will receive his certificate during the Fellows Dinner at this year's Conference on Science and Medicine in Sport, due to be held in Fiji during October.

PhotoID:3493 Professor Mummery is well known for his leadership of the 10,000 Steps project, the Centre for Social Science Research and the Population Research Laboratory at CQU.

"I have been involved with the Sports Medicine Federation since my arrival in Australia and I am very pleased to have received this honour," he said.

The Order of A.S.M.F Fellows was established in 1984 as the elite group within Sports Medicine Australia.

ASMF Fellows have contributed by being a full member for 7 years, attending Australian and international conferences, having research published in national or international publications, obtaining higher tertiary qualifications, assisting in the administration of SMA projects and lecturing at workshops.

The broad objectives of the Fellows are:.

- promote excellence in the field of sports medicine.

- encourage young members' research and scientific endeavours.

- recognise the contibution of members to SMA.
