The 5th annual competition included a new venue and a change from weekend to weekday, yet teams were still keen to take part.
Jason Bell congratulates best entry winner Matthew Pozzebon
Organiser Jason Bell, High Performance Computing Support Officer for the Information Technology Division, said the top 4 teams were only separated by 4 points in the dance section.
In the soccer section, the final score was 10 to 9 in a very close competition.
"We had a lot of positive feedback about the competition," he said.
"The new rescue category was a hit, even though it was a lot harder and many didn't succeed at first.
"A number of new teachers came to watch/help to get the general idea what is expected and plan to bring students next year.
"An entire class from Yeppoon travelled 50km to watch and hope to participate next year;
"Many teachers are keen to enter and be involved in the soccer competition. To assist their development, I will be donating old soccer fields to a number of schools. There was also a significant number asking for a soccer workshop, to assist many new comers on where to start, etc.
"Many students were rebuilding and improving their robots throughout the day with great information exchange from all of the students.
"There were a significant number of people that assisted to make the competition happen. On all accounts, this was probably our best ever competition and there are plans for it to be bigger and better next year."
