Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Emerging leaders discuss successful workplace styles 

Emerging leaders from a variety of CQUniversity organisational units ‘graduated' from the Emerging Leadership Program last week.

Barbara Miller, Director of Human Resources, presented the final session of the program, speaking about her leadership style which encourages staff to believe in themselves and strive to be the best they can be.

Participants workshopped topics such as interpersonal and negotiation skills, empowerment, innovation and coaching for improved performance.

Leonie Barnett, who is a staff member and PhD candidate, said she "learnt new things, updated her knowledge and was reminded of best practice".
