Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Campus advisory committee celebrates first year 

The Rockhampton Campus Community Advisory Committee met this week to celebrate the success of its first year of operation.

Community members and CQUniversity staff who form the Advisory Committee meet quarterly to discuss and inform community members about University issues and to receive advice from the community's perspective.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves said the Committee was very useful and thanked all the members for their commitment to the University and their support.

The meeting culminated with end-of-year drinks with some members of CQUniversity senior staff, including Professor Kevin Tickle, Professor Elizabeth Taylor, Professor John Rolfe, Graham Black, Michael Donahue, Roslyn McCarthy, Kathy Ramm, Dr Paul Waight and Peter Lawrence.

The Rockhampton Campus Community Advisory Committee will continue to operate in 2009 and staff who are interested to learn more about its outcomes are welcome to contact The Office of Development and Graduate Relations.
