Diverse experience already for performing arts graduate

In a reversal of the Wizard of Oz tale, Carmen Maguire has left her home town of Emerald to follow her 'yellow brick road' to success.

PhotoID:2480 She will graduate with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) degree in Rockhampton on March 11, but already has gained a diverse range of industry experience.

Late last year, Ms Maguire joined the Production Services Unit of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre for a week-long industry placement.

This gave her work experience in lighting, audio/visual, sound, crew/mechanical and stage management as she worked with the Queensland Theatre Company production of 'Oedepis', Opera Queensland's production of 'The Marriage of Figaro' and Melbourne Theatre Company's production of 'The Daylight Athiest'.

More recently, Ms Maguire has been on a 3-month secondment as a Deputy Stage Manager for the Ceremonies Department of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
