Students catapulted into Engineering studies

First-year Engineering students were catapulted into their studies last Friday (March 11) in more ways than one.
For starters, CQU Engineering Dean Professor Elizabeth Taylor awarded nine $1000 Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) Scholarships to new students who applied after attending the Co-op Open Day last year.
On the same program was the first-year design and build project day, which enabled students to design model aircraft and launch them from a rubber-band catapult.
The scholarships were presented to Mark O’Neil from Yeppoon State High School; Scott Muller from Emmaus College (Rockhampton); Nathaniel Dunnett from Gladstone State High School; Benjamin Bowers from Chanel College (Gladstone); Jarrod Brooks from Pioneer State High School (Mackay); Clint Lamperd from Pioneer State High School (Mackay); Celisa Wilschefski from North Bundaberg State High School; Daniel Baillie from Isis District State High School; and Darren Fraser from Iona College Lindum (South-East Queensland).
