Student manages to 'LOL' despite missing lecture after 1250km drive

A CQU distance education student has sent a LOL (laugh out loud) Email to her class message board after missing a lecture despite a 1250km drive to get there.

The design perspectives student from the Gulf of Carpentaria travelled with husband and three kids to Mackay via Townsville to attend a 'digital magic' lecture by Lord of the Rings FX guru Eric Saindon (from Weta Digital in New Zealand).

However, a government conference had soaked up all the available accommodation and the family was forced to retreat to the Whitsundays for the night.

Organisers of the event are arranging a video or DVD recording of the lecture to be sent north so the trip will not be a total waste.
