Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU represented at Mackay Mining Expo 

CQU has had representatives from the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health and the Mackay campus partipating in the biannual Mackay Mining Expo this week.

This event is a showcase of over 400 participating organisations with involvement in the mining industry.

Interest in CQU was very strong with particular emphasis on programs in the maintenance, mining,engineering, procurement and occupational health and safety areas.

Organisations had a strong demand for career path educational options.

CQU was the only university at the event consolidating its reputation as a university in tune with the needs of industry.

Their was also strong interest in the CQU Engineering Co-op program from both parents and engineering organisations.
