"CQU is encouraging and providing opportunities for local people to be what they want to be and contributing to the development of regional Queensland.  I'm proud of that and as a Councillor I will work to ensure the University's continues to engage with and contribute in many ways to the community," he said.

Tim believes he can bring "new thinking" to CQU and help the University meet the changing higher education, research and commercial demands within the communities it serves.

"We know, for example, engineering and technology professions and the demands of those industries will continue to have a real impact here in Central Queensland. CQU is, in many instances, at the centre of that by providing employment, enhancing workforce qualifications, accelerating innovation, improving skills and knowledge and attracting skilled labour and service to our communities. As a Councillor I want help secure and maintain the University's leadership and partnership roles with industry and community," explained Griffin.

Tim Griffin holds dual tertiary qualifications in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Civil Engineering, both from Central Queensland University, and a Diploma in Company Directorship. Tim is a past National President of Australia's Technology Professionals (APESMA) and President of Cressy Tennis Club in Rockhampton.
