Enviro specialists get tips from CQUni researcher Scott Wilson

Environmental staff from the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and NRG recently spent two days with CQUniversity researcher Dr Scott Wilson to hone their skills in gathering and analysing water and sediment samples from the harbour...
Dr Wilson provided the 'Practical Skills in Environmental Monitoring' course to cover field sampling as well as laboratory analysis and interpretation. Day 2 also provided training in a range of biological monitoring techniques for different aquatic habitats, creatures and plants including sea grass, mangroves, fish and invertebrates.

* Couse facilitator Dr Scott Wilson is Vice President of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and Program Leader of Marine and Coastal Ecology at CQUniveristy's Centre for Environmental Management. He has over 20 years' research experience in water quality and ecotoxicology. Dr Wilson has been prominent in the development and use of bioindicators and sensors for assessment of tropical and temperate waters. He has international collaborations with university and government agencies in Europe and North America and is on the OECD Amphibian Testing Advisory Group and the GESAMP Advisory panel for micro-plastics in the marine environment. He also has over 40 publications including peer reviewed journals, reports and book chapters and has presented at over 50 conferences,workshops, seminars and public gatherings both nationally and internationally.
