Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Fledgling teachers celebrate in Bundaberg 

About 40 education students have celebrated completing all their degree assessment requirements, in the company of friends, family, mentor teachers and academics on Bundaberg Campus.

Guest speakers for the event included Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, Education Queensland rep John Faragher and local deputy principal Michael Kiss, who spoke on behalf of schools which have hosted students during practical sessions in the classroom.

Education Dean Associate Professor Helen Huntly provided a message for the departing Bachelor of Learning Management cohort, who enjoyed a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

Kate Vincent and Peter Jordan addressed the audience on behalf of the 2010 graduating class and participants enjoyed a barbecue meal.
