Two CQUniversity students have wowed selectors to secure their place in the Australian universities rugby league squad.
Accounting student from Brisbane Brenton Stonier and construction management student from Proserpine Adam Wright made impressive performances as part of the Queensland side against New South Wales in the recent interstate challenge, earning their place in the national team.
Brenton Stonier plays his way into the national university rugby league side. The pair is among 10 Queenslanders and 12 New South Welshmen to be chosen in the squad.
Also making his presence felt in this year's Queensland side was CQUniversity teaching student, Jared Hoare from Rockhampton. It was the second year Jared has represented Queensland in the challenge.
The league interstate clash was a tough battle between the two sides which ended in a historic draw. The 20-all deadlock was the first of its kind in the history of interstate university rugby league since 1982.
Brenton and Adam now look forward to their duel with Great Britain in matches in Bali on June 28 and in Brisbane in July.
