Melbourne also under spell of the moon
Published on 11 October, 2006
CQU Melbourne International Campus client services staff helped arrange a celebration of the Moon Festival on Friday, October 6.
The Moon Festival is a big holiday with family reunions, moon gazing activities and feasting on moon cakes.
Dragon and lion dances, with origins dating back to ancient China, are wonderful activities performed on this day.
Students took respite from their assignment finalisations and exam preparations to mingle with staff and students, enjoy the traditional moon cakes and sip green tea.
Students from other cultures participated and took a keen interest in the cultural significance.
Information flyers on the Moon Festival were also distributed to promote cross-cultural appreciation.
The Diwali Festival and Ramadan will also be celebrated on the Campus in October.
