AUQA program and schedule update

On Wednesday September 7, representatives from CQU met with the AUQA Audit Director, Mr Martin Carroll and the Deputy Chair of the Audit Panel, Mr Graeme Dennehy.

Preliminary audit programs were discussed and negotiated.

The AUQA audit panel will now discuss and finalise the programs and confirm with CQU.

PhotoID:2415 The following information was an outcome of this preparatory visit.

As you will be aware, the audit is of the University as a whole. To attain this perspective, the Audit Panel, in addition to other deliberations, has selected a sample of academic units and research centres for particular attention.

Academic units.

(a) School of Commerce.

(b) School of Chemical and Biomedical Sciences.

(c) Faculty of Education (whole faculty).

(d) School of Information Technology.

Within each of the sample academic units, AUQA will be trialling a number of specified programs.

The programs have been selected to provide the Audit Panel with a view of teaching in multiple modes and locations.

Full details of the schedule and program, including the targeted courses is available from the Quality Office website: http://www.quality.cqu.edu.au/happening/auditdetails.htm .

Research Centres.

The research sample is as follows (we recognise that these are not all necessarily technically regarded as ‘research centres’ at CQU):.

(a) Centre for Environmental Management.

(b) Centre for Railway Engineering.

(c) Intercultural Pedagogy and Research Centre (C_MS).

AUQA advised that as a general rule all interviews will be 45 minutes and consist of no more that 8 interviewees.

PhotoID:2416 AUQA has requested a significant amount of additional information to be provided before finalising aspects of the audit program. The Quality Office will be contacting relevant managers for this information in the immediate future. We appreciate your responsiveness to our requests.

Once AUQA has notified CQU of the required interviewees for each site, the Quality Office will coordinate the notification and scheduling of interviews, and will also require those involved to participate in a briefing meeting prior to the audit day.
