A group of lecturers and nursing students from Kwassui University in Japan visited CQUniversity this week as part of an English language tour.

During the visit Professor Kyoko Kajihara met with CQUniversity nursing staff including Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Professor Ysanne Chapman and award winning nurse educator Associate Professor Kerry Reid-Searl (and a number of her aliases).

Kerry's Mask-Ed - a simulation approach to nursing education where she dresses in Hollywood style masks - gave the visitors much to talk about. They were amazed at the life-like masks that are teaching students about patient care.

According to Professor Chapman the Kwassui University study tour to Rockhampton had paved the way for further links between the universities.

"We are now looking at the possibility of future student and faculty exchanges and some joint teaching and research opportunities."
