Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Graduation... with a French accent 

A Graduation Ceremony on the will be held Friday 27 September on the lawns behind the Bruce Hiskens (Library) Building at CQURockhampton Campus.

The ceremony starts at 1pm includes graduates from all Faculties.

The French Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Monsieur Pierre Viaux, will visit CQU Rockhampton on graduation day. He will meet with Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Glenice Hancock and attend a luncheon with CQU International staff.

All staff are invited to attend the ceremony and all graduate staff are also invited to wear academic regalia and participate in the graduate staff procession at the ceremony. This invitation to participate in the procession/s includes all general staff who hold academic qualifications. The Graduation Section can supply academic dress (please refer to attachment if interested). Academic dress orders for the 27 September ceremony will be accepted until close of business on Friday 13 September 2002.

“Each year we are surprised by staff who turn up for the ceremony and expect to participate in the graduate procession even though they have not advised us of their attendance,” says Irene Van Nunen, Graduation Officer Seats are allocated according to responses, so please Stephanie Crandall, Graduation Coordinator, by 13 September 2002, if you wish to attend the ceremony. These tickets permit access to the reserved staff seating section, located directly behind the official guests seating at each ceremony.
