Creative Enterprise students benefit from Festival of Innovation

CQU Bachelor of Creative Enterprise students made the most of the Festival of Innovation held in Rockhampton last Thursday and Friday.

BCE program leader Dr Bernadette Walker-Gibbs recently thanked the Festival organisers for running an excellent event.

\"The event was invaluable to the Creative Enterprise students who not only organised and managed a display where they had the opportunity to showcase their skills but also the chance to network with local industry and innovators to identify opportunities for industry experience,\" Dr Walker-Gibbs said.

\"The students have come away with knowledge that they can now apply in even broader contexts.

\"On a personal note, I enjoyed the opportunity to present on \'Creative industries and the Ipod revolution\\\' with Margaret Brown from Minter Ellison,\" Dr Walker-Gibbs said.

BCE student Charles Opio said the students were focused on promoting the degree but also found the activity useful for making links with the business community.

\"It was all about putting us out there and to show our ability with communication,\" he said.

\"A lot of business owners wanted to know more about ourselves and the degree, leading to opportunities for partnerships\".

A range of CQU staff members were involved in the third annual Festival of Innovation event organised by the Department of State Development and Innovation (and sponsored by CQU).

The event was held last Thursday at DPI Parkhurst, with a Celebration of Innovation Dinner later at the Rockhampton Leagues Club. A workshop on Matrix Thinking was presented by Roger La Salle, a judge on 'The New Inventors', on the Friday.
