Pinefest Ambassador entrant and CQU nursing student Caitlyn Flint.CQU first-year nursing student and Pinefest entrant Caitlyn Flint will put her money where her dreams lay after raising about $2000 for the Edmund Rice charity for disadvantaged children in Yeppoon.
Despite being unsuccessful in her bid to be the Pinefest Charity Ambassador on the weekend, Caitlyn has made a big difference for some of Yeppoon's most needy children.
She said the Edmund Rice charity in Yeppoon involves children in some fun activities and camps throughout the year, while giving their parents some much-needed time out.
Caitlyn has been involved in various community events and services for a number of years, though none as demanding as her time in the Pinefest.
She said she has had a lot of support enabling her to keep up with her nursing studies.
"It has been a very stressful time, but I have had a lot of support."
Caitlyn wants to use her studies to enter a career in paediatric nursing, which may even lead to further study to become a paediatrician.
"I find working with children most rewarding. Seeing parents' faces when you help their children is amazing."
"I just love to be around kids."
Senior Nursing Lecturer Dr Lorna Moxham said Caitlyn was a dedicated student who was going to make a great nurse.
