Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Rocky men trade experience for school careers 

Rocky men Damien O'Rourke, Bruce Hurley and Scott Finlayson have decided to use their trade experience as a springboard into careers as secondary school teachers who can specialise in industrial technology and design subjects (formerly known as manual arts).

PhotoID:190 All three are currently enrolled with the Faculty of Education and Creative Arts at Central Queensland University. They recently attended a hands-on workshop for CQU's Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary Vocational Education and Training) degree program, hosted at Glenmore High School.

Mr O'Rourke and Mr Finlayson both have experience as cabinet makers, while Mr Hurley was previously a bricklayer.
