Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Law on the agenda at breakfast 

Rockhampton Women In Research is conducting a breakfast on May 6 at 7.30am.

Guest speaker Bronwyn Springer will give an insight into the world of law.

Bronwyn holds a degree in Law and Arts, with a double major in history. She is currently a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal, the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal and is the Legal Official Visitor to the Capricornia Correctional Centre.

She is a conference chair for the Legal Aid office and conducts mediations in family law matters. She was previously at the private bar for six years as a barrister doing predominantly insolvency and personal injury matters.

She worked for five years at the (then) Criminal Justice Commission as a senior legal officer and senior research officer and at the University of Queensland in administration. She is working towards her Master of Laws which she hopes to finish during 2004.
