CQU Mackay's staff charge into Relay for Life

CQU Mackay staff gave up their Saturday night to participate in the Relay for Life last weekend. The team, “Crazy CQU Chargers” marched overnight raising $1800 towards the total of $150,000.

PhotoID:2061 The Relay for Life fundraiser is an overnight event to raise money for the Queensland Cancer Fund. It is a challenging and fun way to incorporate awareness of cancer research with the Community.

There were over 80 teams involved in the event. Of these teams, “The Crazy CQU Chargers” team of 11 carried the team baton around the track continuously for 18 hours taking them through to Sunday morning.

“Having all been touched by cancer in some way, it was rewarding to have the opportunity to help those in need. The Mackay Showgrounds was booming and it was great to see how much the Mackay Community all put in,” Peter Baxter, CQU Mackay lecturer said.
