Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Rockhampton researcher in high demand overseas

Excited about the new opportunities unfolding for him, CQU’s Associate Professor QingLong Han’s academic career is on the rise.

Mr Han, a researcher in time-delay systems, networked control systems, robust control and fault-tolerant control, has recently returned from a productive visit to China where he was honoured with two guest professorships at Chinese universities.

Mr Han’s appointments are with Nanjing Normal University (from December 20 for at least 5 years) and Zhejiang Univeristy of Technology (from December 15 2005 to December 14 2007).

His work with these universities will help to ensure that CQU and its Faculty of Business and Informatics will play a significant role in partnerships with these universities.

Fast becoming an internationally-renowned researcher and expert in time-delay systems and networked control systems, the CQU professor is also highly sought after for PhD supervisions for students from around the world and for editing roles with various journals.

In an achievement almost unheard of in the academic arena, Mr Han recently published five papers in the top academic journal ‘Automatica’.

He is the author who published the most papers in the journal in 2005. These papers appeared in volume 41 numbers 2, 6, 7 and 12.

Papers included ‘Delayed feedback control of uncertain systems with time-varying input delay’; ‘Network-based robust H-inf control of systems with uncertainty’; ‘On stability of linear neutral systems with mixed time-delays: a discretized Lyapunov functional approach’; ‘Absolute stability of time-delay systems with sector-bounded nonlinearity’; and 'On H-inf control for linear systems with interval time-varying delay’.
