CQU\'s Associate Prof Manicka Dhanasekar and Dr Koon Wong are the chosen recipients the R W Chapman Medal for year 2003, which have recently been announced.

This award, from the Institution of Engineers Australia, is presented to \"author of a recently published learned paper judged to have made an important contribution to the science and/or practice of structural engineering\".

The medal perpetuates the memory of Sir Robert Chapman, a former professor of engineering at the University of Adelaide and a member of the inaugural council of the Institution. He was Chairman of the former Adelaide Division in 1920 and was President of the Institution in 1922.

Dr Koon Wong has previously won the same award (together with the Warren Medal) for a paper published in 1988 jointly with Prof Bob Warner and Dr Micheal Yeo when he was a postgraduate student at the University of Adelaide.

The medals were presented by the President of Queensland Division, Peter Jorss, at a dinner function in Rockhampton.
