Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bundaberg hosts first science class in new lab  

The first class of science students to use the new laboratory facilities at CQU Bundaberg reportedly enjoyed the experience.

Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health academic Desirae Kirby reports:.

"We have 31 students in the 32 seat biology end, with 2 staff members. The first prac off the rank, is Foundation Animal Biology.

"The first lab was a great success. Feedback from the students was extremely positive. They enjoyed the lab and our new microscopes got their first use.

"We have our biggest science classes yet this year. Both staff and students are very excited about using the new facilities and the new equipment in the laboratory".
