Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Think Tank visits CQU 

A group of 20 industry and business leaders met at the Central Queensland University Tuesday afternoon as part of the Rockhampton Regional Development’s Think Tank.

PhotoID:380 Morning events included: a visit to the Energy Education Centre; presentation on the Stanwell Industry Corridor; and tour of the Stanwell Energy Park, Gracemere township and Saleyards, Botanical Gardens and water treatment plant.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems Professor Elizabeth Taylor met the entourage in the foyer of Building 30 at CQU’s Rockhampton campus at 3.30pm. Visitors viewed a powerpoint presentation and toured the faculty’s laboratories and the Centre for Railway Engineering.

Central Queensland University representatives also took part in the discussion sessions at the Department of Primary Industry on Wednesday.

The principle objective of the Think Tank was to ensure that the potential of the Stanwell Energy Park and the designated industry corridor were fully realised.
