Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Finalists decided for CQU-backed newsreader competition 

The full list of finalists has been decided for Rockhampton's High School Newsreader of the Year competition.

Heat 3 was a very tight competition, with judges declaring the female decision a dead heat between Ainsley Windress from Yeppoon State High and Georgene Jeffreys from St Ursula's College, also in Yeppoon.. Sean Mailander from Emmaus College was the well deserved male winner.

PhotoID:2556 Ainsley, Georgene and Sean will join Morgan Graham and Ryan Rostron from Rockhampton Grammar, Asha Burnett from Gladstone High School and Patrick Stockall from Cathedral College next week in what promises to be a very exciting final.

The final will be held from 4pm on Thursday October 27, at City Centre Plaza and will be broadcast live to air on 98.5 fm, Radio 4YOU.
