CQU Primary Industries Research Centre recently hosted Yuyue Yang, a lecturer at the School of Mathematics and Computational Science, Xiangtan University in Human, China.
Mr Yang worked with Dr Ninghu Su and Dr Nanjappa Ashwath over the past three months on parameterising a multiphase flow simulator named STOMP. The STOMP simulator was originally developed by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington for modelling multiphase flow and movement.
The group is in the process of parameterising STOMP code for the application in a phytocapped landfill project funded by the Rockhampton City Council, and also plans to parameterise its multiphase component for simulating the flow and movement of multiphases including water, gases and solutes as well as temperature in phytocapped landfill sites and irrigation projects.
Mr Yang will return to China this week to continue with his lecturing in Mathematics.
He has recently been admitted to his PhD project at Xiangtan University.
