More tips from Rocky Road Safety Group

Here's some more handy tips from the Rocky Road Safety Group*.

Why race traffic signals?.

Behind the wheel, some of us aspire to be the next Mark Webber, Mark Skaife or Craig Lowndes. But a yellow light means you must stop behind the stop line if you can do so safely. Why race traffic signals when doing so means increased speed and increased danger to all other road users, including pedestrians? At signalised intersections, slow down, drive responsibly and get there safely.

Did you know that in wet conditions, the stopping distance of your vehicle effectively doubles? Speed limits on our roads are designed for ideal surface conditions in dry weather. Even oil and dirt on the road can significantly increase your stopping distance. When driving in differing road conditions, understand the effect speed has on you and your passenger's safety. Remember, drive to the conditions, drive to survive.
